Building cultural facilities that are warranted and utilized to optimum
capacity by both residents and visitors is the other side of the equation
along with programming in the Foundation’s charter within the
community.
GrapeVine Community Arts Space
The Foundation has attracted $100,000 in grant funding towards a new
Community Cultural Centre by the lake at Charlotte’s Vineyard. The
centre will be complete in September 2006.
This multi-arts facility will be a flexible space to provide for exhibitions,
concerts, classes, community group meetings, and workshops, as well
as housing visiting artists in residence who will work and live in the
community during their residency.
Ellenbrook Gallery
The Gallery is now open in the Town Centre for a wide range of exhibitions
and other arts activities from the professional level through to community
initiatives.
Performing Arts Space
Performing Arts Capacity in the Town Centre is being developed in partnership
with the Dept. of Education & Training as part of the new Ellenbrook
Secondary College, to which the community will have access after school
hours.
Amphitheatre
There is an outdoor Amphitheater by the lake at Woodlake Village for
a range of summertime concerts, festivals, and other events.
These cultural facilities mean the Foundation has a tangible base in
the community to generate increasingly high levels of awareness, participation,
and notoriety. They will expediate the achievement of the dual objectives
of accessibility and excellence through cultural means towards a cohesive,
vibrant, and enlightened community with a holistic self esteem and a
distinctive sense of ownership, belonging and place.
